Joint Inspection of Children's Services and Inspection of Social Work Services (Scotland) Act, [S]
The Act will introduce new provisions for the carrying out of joint inspections on services to children. Provisions are also made on access to information for those involved in inspecting children's services.

Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act implementation
On 14 November the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act will come into force and change the way in which children and young people’s educational support is identified, planned and recorded.

Protection of Children and Prevention of Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2005 [S]
This Scottish Executive Act introduces a range of measures to further strengthen the protection of children from sexual harm and abuse. The Bill creates a number of new offences including strengthening the law to deal with offenders who seek to 'groom' children for the purposes of committing sexual offences. It also creates risk of sexual harm orders to protect children from adults who display inappropriate behaviour towards them.

Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation (Scotland) Act 2005 [S]
This Scottish Executive Act will make it an offence to send a girl abroad for the purpose of female genital mutilation. The bill would also repeal and re-enact the provision of the Female Circumcision Act 1985 for Scotland giving those provisions extra-territorial effect and increasing the maximum penalty.

Family Law (Scotland) Act 2006 [S]
The Family Law (Scotland) Act was introduced to the Scottish Parliament on 7 February 2005. It includes measures to establish parental rights and responsibilities for unmarried fathers and reducing separation periods for divorce. Alongside the publication of the Act the Scottish Executive has announced a number of non-legislative initiatives to support families, including a charter for grandparents and a Parenting agreement for Scotland.

New criminal justice powers in force, 27/06/03 [S]
Powers contained in the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act, passed by the Scottish Parliament earlier this year, come into force on 27 June 2003 including increased penalties for possession and distribution of child pornography.

Implementation of mental health Act 2003, 19/06/03 [S]
The Executive has outlined progress on the implementation of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.

Monitoring of new mental health laws, 27/03/03 [S]
Proposals to monitor the effectiveness of the new mental health laws in Scotland were outlined on 27 March 2003.

An Act of the Scottish Parliament to restate and amend the law relating to mentally disordered persons; and for connected purposes.

Timetable for ban on tobacco advertising, 20/11/02 [S]
The timetable for banning tobacco advertising and promotion in Scotland, has been announced, following Royal Assent of the Tobacco Advertising and Promotion Bill.
