Second great parenting experiment: effects of media-based delivery of parenting advice, 26/06/08 [E,NI,S,W]
Report for the Department of Children and Families on research which sought to understand if a media delivered parenting programme changes parental reported behaviour of children . The research used the screening of the second series of ‘Driving Mum and Dad Mad’ on ITV to invite parents to register online for the experiment.

Determinants of aspirations, 26/06/08 [E,NI,S,W]
Report for the Department of Children and Families on research which outlines the current state of knowledge about what influences the educational and occupational aspirations of young people and their parents. The research was based on a literature review covering a variety of disciplines including psychology, education, sociology, economics and political science although most have a psychological perspective. Most of the studies adopt a quantitative, longitudinal approach and focus on the UK, although a number of qualitative studies and research from the US and Australia were included where relevant.

Road casualties Great Britain 2007: main results, 26/06/08 [E,NI,S,W]
The Department of Transport has published National Statistics on road casualties in Great Britain in 2007, which relate to casualties in accidents reported to the police. Child casualties fell by 7 per cent. The number of children killed or seriously injured in 2007 was 3,090 (down 6 per cent on 2006). Of those, 1,899 were pedestrians, 6 per cent down on 2006. 121 children died on the roads, 28 per cent fewer than in 2006.
