Education and Culture Committee launch Inquiry into the educational attainment of looked after children, 08/09/11 [S]
The Scottish Parliament Education and Culture Committee has launched an inquiry into why the educational attainment of looked after children has not improved significantly since devolution, despite the considerable volume of policy, guidance and legislation in this area. The Committee’s inquiry will also consider how this problem can be addressed.

Antisocial Behavior Framework Debate, 02/04/09 [S]
During the meeting of the Scottish Parliament on 2 April 2009 MSPs debated the antisocial behaviour framework. The Minister for Community Safety, Fergus Ewing, opened the debate.

Child Poverty Inquiry, 23/04/08 [S]
The Scottish Parliament's Local Government and Communities Committee is holding an inquiry into child poverty in Scotland. The effects and causes of child poverty are well documented and the Committee's inquiry is intended to identify actions that would lead to significant improvements in the lives and prospects of children living in poverty in Scotland. The Committee is looking for comments by 27 June 2008.

Family support services inquiry, 12/04/06 [S]
The Scottish Parliament Justice 1 Committee has launched an inquiry into the provision of family support services in Scotland. Following the passage of the Family Law (Scotland) Bill the Committee agreed that these services needed further investigation. The Committee is asking for comments by 5 May 2006.

Free Personal Care Inquiry, 12/05 [S]
The Scottish Parliament's Health Committee has launched an inquiry into free personal care. The inquiry is specifically looking at free personal care for the elderly, but will also be examining the Care Commission and it's inspection regime. The Committee has called for all written evidence to be submitted by 10 February 2006.

Early Years Inquiry
The Scottish Parliament's Education Committee launched an inquiry into early years (preschool) childcare and education provision in February 2005. The Committee has received written evidence from interested parties and will shortly begin taking oral evidence.

Disability Inquiry
The Scottish Parliament’s Equal Opportunities Committee is currently looking at barriers to the full participation of disabled people, in its disability inquiry, ‘Removing Barriers and Creating Opportunities’.

Deprivation Spend Inquiry
The Scottish Parliament’s Finance Committee is carrying out an inquiry into spending on deprived areas and how funding from national and local government is allocated to tackling area-based inequalities and how current formulas are applied.

Gypsy/Traveller Inquiry – review of progress
The Scottish Parliament’s Equal Opportunities Committee is carrying out a review of progress in relation to the recommendations of the Committee's 1st Report 2001: Inquiry into Gypsy Travellers and Public Sector Policies.
