Glow Written Answer, 03/02/12 [S]

Written Answer given in response to Drew Smith's (Lab) question asking the Scottish Executive when it will complete engagement activity with the education community on the future development of Glow; what progress it is making on the development of the next generation of Glow; and what payments it has since made and what contracts it has now agreed in relation to Glow.

The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Michael Russell, replied that the Scottish Government continues to engage with the education community on the future development of Glow. For example, activity specifically relating to scoping the functionality of the new Glow solution is due to conclude in February 2012. Looking forward, an event to engage the wider education community about progress with the new Glow solution and the ICT in Education programme is planned for April 2012.

The new solution will be in place in time for the end of the current Glow contract in September 2012. From October to December 2011, the Scottish Government has made payments of £833,334 excluding VAT, related to Glow. No additional contracts have been agreed in relation to Glow.
