Additional Support for Learning Act 2004: placing requests consultation, 11/05/05 [S]
Scottish Executive consultation regarding proposals for placing request arrangements for children and young people with additional support needs. The paper sets out the Executive's intention with relations to provisions set out in Schedule 2 of the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004 with regards to placing requests for children and young people with additional support needs.
Consultation period: 11/05/05 to 03/08/05Key points in the new provisions:
- Parents of children with additional support needs can make a placing request for their child to attend an independent special school 1 or a grant-aided special school.
- A refusal of a placing request will be referred to the Additional Support Needs Tribunal (section 18(1)) instead of an education authority appeal committee
The Executive asks for any comments on the paper. Responses should be submitted by 3 August to:
