Moving forward...Additional Support for Learning Implementation Newsletter, 17/09/04 [S]

This is the first in a series of seven implementation newsletters containing up-to-date information about the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004, its implementation and where more detailed information can be accessed. The first edition gives an overview of the Act, its implications and plans for implementation.

The first edition of Moving Forward includes:

  • An outline of the strategy for implementing the Act

  • outline of the main duties and provisions contained in the Act and its implications

  • Introduces the Advisory Group, set up to inform the implementation of the Act

  • Outlines the timeline for the implementation of the Code of Practice

  • Sign posts to further information and useful resources


Future editions of the newsletter will look at specific aspects of the Act in more detail.

Further information on the general implementation and communication strategy of the Act is available on the Scottish Executive website.

The Scottish Executive and Enquire, the Scottish advice service for additional support for learning, are working together to raise awareness of the Act and what the changes in the law will mean.

The newsletters are being produced by Children in Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Executive.
