Protection of Vulnerable Groups Implementation: Regulated Work with Adults Order Consultation, 10/11/09 - 02/02/10 [S]

The Scottish Government is consulting on provision making changes to the scope of regulated work with adults (set out in schedule 3 to the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Act) which affects who should be a PVG Scheme member. Consultation to 2 February 2010.

The 2007 PVG Act will provide for a new vetting and barring scheme. This means that the use of disclosure checks under the 1997 Act for work with children and protected adults will end. They will be replaced by new types of disclosure requests under the 2007 Act.

Section 94 of the 2007 Act and the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act Prescribed Services (Protected Adults) Regulations 2010 set out the services that will confer "protected adult" status on an individual. This status will ensure that an adult is protected by virtue of workers (both paid and unpaid) having been assessed for their suitability to do regulated work within these services.
